The gentle warmth of the peck that you spread on the edge of my quivering smile,
That one, the one that soothes my soul,
Melts the heart like glistening wax.
The wax burns again, the light shines again.
This time does it shine brighter? The probing ‘rise,
The clouds clear out, it’s a moonlit sky.
You by my side, your fingers crossing mine;
Humming the tune of happiness, whispering lullabies.
Ripples on the blanket, giggles on the floor;
Your words in my ear echoes singing lore.
You play with my knuckle, a weird game I say
Twisting it slight, I glare in frisky spite.
You breathe on my shoulder, you fall asleep.
I stare at the rim of your inert being.
The room is dark, I can hardly see
I trace your trail of slumber, I close my eyes;
Tucked up in your arms, I can rest in peace.
The night turns deeper, another shade of light.
